Hack description

These patches were designed to help rookies who have problems with Zelda3 and would like to start it with HP upgrades. There are 5 parameters: start with 10 heart containers, start with 20 heart containers, start with Armor-3, fire sword, new "super" sword. There are 11 variants of above, but it is also possible to combine singular paramenters manually, by multi applying more (non-conflicting) IPS patches to one ROM.

It is also possible to apply these HP upgrades to any Zelda3 hack (as long as the file has no header! and is in a lorom format). Since the most difficult Z3 hack up to date is Parallel Worlds, it must be noted, that this hack has a header by default, so it must be opened with Tush program (included) to remove the header before patching. However Parallel Remodel and Goddess of Wisdom have no header by default.

More heart containers HP hack was essentially designed for PW and PR, while the armor and sword upgrades for GoW (because of complaints on armor and sword being to weak in this game).

Note: if you exceed the heart-container maximum, it will go to NOP (no operation), the same with Armor or sword (if you have Armor3, opening a chest with Armor2 does nothing).

Because of these HP upgrades all Zelda3 games are now available for rookies and beginners.

Works, but a little too much.Chronosplit2013-08-21-

Yes, sometimes the hacker is viewed by players as a sadist because the hack is too hard. So this is quite welcome for some newer players who would like something new but are too overwhelmed by the ideas hackers have in mind. This patch also can serve as an introduction for those who grew up after SNES to enjoy one of the best games in the catalog, who might also feel a little overcome by the vanilla's difficulty.

However... maybe this is a bit too much? Going straight to 10 hearts is kind of jumping the gun so to speak, especially when you have no other options to go lower. 2-5 hearts or Armor 2 would both be sound additions to this patch for those who want just a slight leg-up on the competition and still want difficulty. Also versions for both headered and unheadered ROMs would be a sound idea as this hack seems to also target people that are perhaps just stepping into the world of IPS patching.

All in all, I would recommend this for newer players looking for an easy mode as it does blend in well with the game and there are no problems (and no shame, hopefully), but you may still find things dumbed down a little too far.
