Hack description

The purpose of this hack was to make the original Mega Man IV much easier for gamers that find games that aren't too incredibly tough more enjoyable.

Key changes:

- Every special weapon uses only 1 bar each (Charged Pharoah Shot still consumes 2 bars)

- Every boss takes considerably more damage

- All bottomless pits and spikes are eliminated or arranged to be far less hazardous

- Small Capsules refuel 5 units and Large Capsules refuel 15 units for both Life and Weapons

- More 1-Ups and Energy Tanks are available

- Mega Man can hold more lives and Energy Tanks in reserve (the game displays weird digits when the player has more than nine, but does have more than nine)

This hack was created with the RockMan 4 Editor.

This hack has also been tested and verified to work on the Everdrive N8 and plays great on original NES hardware!

Mega Man IV Simplified - BADDobu_GM2022-05-12Version 1.3

Mega Man IV Simplified

Levels: Bad

Graphics: No Change

Music: No Change

Enemies: No Change

Bosses: Bad (less health)

Weapons: Bad (more ammo)

Castle: Bad

Difficulty: EASY

Comments: The fourth Simplified continues the series' trend of low-effort edits. All spikes are removed and a bunch of pits are removed, although the damage of enemies and bosses has remained untouched. This time however, bosses will actually take more damage, to the point where they're killable in 2-3 charge shots (except Drill Man and Bright Man for some reason?). While I appreciate an attempt to at least alter the bosses, the minibosses remain the same, so Ring Man's stage is still fairly frustrating for a hack that prides itself on being easy. If you want a breezy jaunt through MM4 that retains its fighting spirit, you're better off utilizing an infinite lives or infinite weapon ammo hack instead.
