Hack description

This patch adds support for CD quality audio to Mega Man X3 and Mega Man X3 Zero Project using MSU-1 chip invented by byuu. So far, it is only supported and tested on bsnes, higan and the SD2SNES flashcart.

If the MSU-1 is not detected, the patch plays the original music, thus the patch works on all emulators (but it is less fun to listen to).

The link to the audio pack is included in the README file. It uses the PS1/Saturn music that was edited for looping and volume boosting.

Very GoodVahn2024-06-04Version 1.1

It was great, it's the same audio as the PlayStation/Saturn version of the game, the only thing missing were those animated scenes????

Great for those that prefer the SNES version, but...ViperAcidZX2020-04-30Version 1.1

So far a minor issue I'm seeing with the Zero Project emulator MSU-1 version of this patch (encountered with Zero Project v4.1) where there's an oddity of sorts with Zero's graphic in the opening cutscene. I can confirm it doesn't happen with Zero Project v4.1 by itself, this graphic error pops up after applying this patch after the Zero Project patch. I hope DarkShock can look into this error that is occurring. Another very minor nitpick is that the Maverick introduction music still uses the SNES version. Other than that, this is a worthy addition to the MSU-1 ROM hacks available since this ROM hack gives Super Nintendo players the ability to enjoy the remixed CD soundtrack from the PlayStation, Saturn, PC ports without having the load times of those ports bog things down.

X-cellent Addition to the MSU-1 libraryrocklite2017-11-02Version 1.1

Although we all know this game was released to Europe and Japan as a PS1 and PC game with full CD audio and luxurious FMV cutscenes it is an extremely pleasurable experience to finally play this title devoid of the heinous (almost criminal) mandatory load times while still retaining the CD audio!

Although this patch (at this time...) does not include/support the FMV, it is compatible with the infamous Zero Project finally enhancing the SNES version to be the finest and best way to experience this game. Strongly recommend using the audio from Krzysztof Słowikowski's phenomenal arrangement of this games entire OST. Many many thanks for the release of this patch and every effort put forth to make this amazing experience a part of my life. Thank you so much.
