Hack description

The Legend of Zelda: Ganon's Deception is a very hard hack that starts you having to dodge strong enemies to find a sword. The overworld, dungeons, and graphics have all been changed. Be prepared to encounter enemies that are normally not seen in the overworld.

Unfortunately, this hack was still in beta form when it was first released. Many dungeons were incomplete and inaccessible. All that has been fixed, so the player can beat both quests freely. A Word document listing all the changes made is included with the patch.

UPDATE 2/21/2016: Unfortunately, I unearthed two bugs in Level-8 in the first quest; the first one is in a room that leads to a bomb capacity upgrade. The shuttered door stays closed forever even after having defeated the blue darknuts. A second bug in the same room involves a false wall that you can walk through which leads back to the room with the Old Man's clue "There's a Secret in the Room with the Arrow." Unfortunately, if you were to walk through that false wall, you can land in a restricted area above the NPC's in the Old Man's room similar to those found in overworld caves. If you were to walk through this restricted area, you can lose at least one heart worth of damage. Both of these bugs have been fixed. I also removed an extra bomb capacity upgrade in Level-7 in the first quest (there were two of them in that dungeon).

Update 1/18/2021: The Slingshot was moved from Level-4 to Level-5, the Stepladder was moved from Level-5 to Level-4, an extra Heart Container was removed from Level-5, and a previously inaccessible room in Level-6 was made accessible by changing the 1-way shutter to an open door (this room has an Aquamentus and a key).

Great hack, challengingxeades2020-12-03Version 2.1

So far I am really enjoying this game and I've only noticed a few bugs. Starts off very challenging and gets a bit easier but overall very happy with this play. I just played outlands Q1 last week and I also enjoyed that a lot but honestly I am enjoying this one as much if not more. I did find what appears to be an inaccessible cave though. I tried looking for a guide to verify but it seems nobody has created one. Hopefully people are playing it though because this is truly a good hack.

Since nobody has created a guide for it I am working on one now. I finally found all the dungeons but still looking for the book. There seems to be an unreachable room in dungeon 6 but I'm going to double check it. I compiled a list of bugs as well, which I can provide but it didn't look like I could send darklink a message on here. I will update review with guide url once it's finished since that will also note the bugs.

Just gonna start off with saying that this hack starts you off with having to dodge some strong enemies right off from the beginning (Blue Lynels & Blue Wizzrobes). A cave to the right makes you start off on a good path with a Moblin giving the player 150 rupees so you can buy some Bombs and a Shield since you have to find your sword in the overworld, which wasn't so difficult for me to find. Was able to complete the first 3 dungeons in the game pretty easily but found out later in a hidden cave that I would need to go back to all 7 dungeons because they had extra items to obtain to complete later. I programmed the step ladder into the game because I could not find it anywhere after looking for a long time. But Dungeons 1, 2, 3, 5, & 6 required the step ladder to get some extra items (Bracelet/Flute) so I could go back to the other levels and complete them. Couldn't find dungeons 4 & 7 after hours of bombing/burning walls and bushes but was able to find a few Heart Containers and the letter (It's called "Drinking License" haha) and than a somewhat glitchy level 8 that required the step ladder also to get there. Which makes me think this game wasn't finished before I started the guide look-up. I guess the version I played was beta form still...?

The latest version I played on said it was the newest version, but still had a hard time finding 2 of the 8 dungeons. Maybe they're very obscure but I searched everywhere and could not find the dungeons 4 & 7, but did find Dungeon 9. but I couldn't attempt to try the dungeon because I was missing 2 of the triforce pieces to get said into dungeon.

For a game I guess that's still in Beta form, I enjoyed the exploration and the dungeons were not too difficult at all compared to the overworld enemies. Most of this game having to back-track to certain levels to get up-grades to further into the game, and little up-grades that help me defend the stronger enemies this game throws at you. I don't think I would recommend the game because it isn't complete, but from what I played I did enjoy it

6.5/10

EDIT: So I replayed the game after Darklink7884 sent me a message about the game version I played and I guess I made a mistake about not knowing where Levels 4 and 7 were, because they had items that I needed to progress into the game, Can't really say much different from what I previously said about this game, it is very difficult but a worthy award when you fully complete the game, the only part I did not like was needing the Step Ladder from level 5 to complete Level 4. Level 9 was insanely difficult and took me a good half hour or so to beat that beast of a dungeon. Looking forward to the 2nd quest knowing I was able to finish the first, And glad to know I made the mistake by not finding the 2 dungeons I missed to help me beat the game.
