Rockman 3: Stalker Attack - GOODDobu_GM2022-04-12Version 1.1

Rockman 3: Stalker Attack

Levels: Good

Graphics: Good (Palette change)

Music: Good

Enemies: Good

Bosses: Okay

Weapons: Okay (mostly sped up)

Castle: Good

Difficulty: EASY-MEDIUM (largely EASY thanks to the amount of items everywhere)

Comments: Just as a lot of hard mode hacks add minor modifications to the base Mega Man games, Stalker Attack adds minor modifications to Burst Chaser. For the most part the level design is better than the base hack, but the enemies, weapons, and bosses all remain unchanged, which is a... weird experience. Not because it's bad in any way — Burst Chaser is a great hack — but Stalker Attack lacks a firm identity of its own, happy to ride on the coattails of its progenitor. Stalker Attack is mildly better (and bluer) than Burst Chaser, but it owes most of its praise to BC.

(Heads up: dying to Shadow Man can softlock your game, so you have one shot to beat him)

OK, but not very polishedSosuko2021-08-08Version 1.1

When reviewing this hack, it's necessary to talk about the original hack it is made from, Burst Chaser. Burst Chaser is fantastic for many reasons, and the same speed, enemies, bosses, etc... are present here, which make it just as fast-paced and fun in many ways. However, in comparing it to Burst Chaser, this hack is not nearly as polished in terms of level design, so it ultimately falls short of it. Enemy placement is pretty cheap in some places, which makes you slowly approach gaps to attack an enemy just off camera to avoid getting knocked into pits. This type of enemy placement completely goes against the fast-paced and high-energy gameplay that Burst Chaser allows for. Also, the same enemies are used in almost every stage, leading to a lack in identity or variety to the stages. Though it is a little more difficult than Burst Chaser, it's still a pretty easy hack that really doesn't do a whole lot to stand out from the original. If you're looking for some extra Burst Chaser content, this hack will provide that, but I would encourage playing Burst Chaser first for any considering this hack

Strange and DreamlikeMother Kojiro2016-04-29Version 1.0

This hack has a lot of strange things happen that make me question of the whole thing was even real, and I love that. Some of it seems like unintentional glitching, but I think that adds to the atmosphere, intentional or not. The level design really goes off the rails, and in a very good way. The dark palettes add to this mood; it's a thing of absolute beauty. There are a lot of stages with water, and Rush Jet drains its energy so quickly that Rush Marine finally gets its time to shine. Everything is very fast and intense, but given that Burst was used as a base, that's to be expected. The music selection is interesting, with selections from Double Dragon, Final Fantasy 8, Valkyrie Profile, Mega Man 9, and even that goofy Surf Rock version of the chocobo theme from Final Fantasy 7. There are also some songs that are vaguely familiar, but I can't quite place them.

A pretty good recreation , however ......Timaeus2016-03-15Version 1.0

Wow. A hack of a hack!!! I never saw that before.

As the description says, this one is a modification of Master Tsukikuro´s Rockman 3 Burst Chaser, but with new level design, new stages colours palettes (using more blue, which is my fav colour), new enemies and bosses colours, new weakness, but with the musics and IA´s from Burst Chaser.

Overall I liked this ´mix`, since I LOVED Burst Chaser, which is a splendid hack (one of my favorites, from my favorite mm hacker), I´ve made a review about it if you want to see it.

Also this one is harder than the original Burst Chaser (which was a pretty easy rom overall), so if the original hack was too easy to you, this one will take care of that.

BUUUTTT, like always, there´s issues. The main one that I have to point out is the enemy placement. There´s some ok ones but there´s some enemies that are placed in some bad looking areas (MOST AREN´T DEADLY THOUGH), making some of them barely impossible to get through without taking damage (E-tanks are very welcome in some of those areas), but most of them aren´t deadly or cheap at all, but hard for no damage. That REALLY need some looking at (to avoid bad looking criticism). Another minor issue is those colour swamp that happens in some stages, but its not much important at all since is just visual stuff. Actually I liked those swamp for some reason :p

But even tough, it´s still a beatable hack (that´s for sure), but I suggest download it now before it get banned by the owner Tsukikuro, if there´s a chance for that to happen :/
