Rockman (6): Spirits of Hackers - The hack is pretty good!diablo6662022-02-16Version 1.0

(One of the sweet desserts)

I call this hack one of my favorites. And MOST IMPORTANTLY: a Trailblazer who wants to be very good... and he's good at it. Ohh... let's do it point by point, or I'll be dishonest with people.

0. The hack warns that it is not finished.... Although it is partially so (there are no two levels in the Castle of Mr.X), However, the other levels are still in place. And it's playable

1. Graphics. Pretty decent colors, interesting backgrounds in the background, good selection of graphics for platforms

2. Levels. Quite non-linear, with their own delights. For example: one of the robomasters - warns that if we accidentally set fire to oil, then there is no short path and other pieces - not to see. Non-linearity and unusual feed levels - gives new challenges and feelings of the game. Each level - as a Professional would say: "its own rule!"

3. Enemies. Each enemy now has a different behavior. They have become tougher, more dangerous, and less predictable (some of them). In merging with the levels and location of enemies - then you have to come up with tactics. And this is a plus

4. Music. Well - chosen compositions that are pleasant to the ear. Some even give a special charm or atmosphere. THERE is a small minus: it is for some reason the theme of "from Castelvania" in the Intro of the castle of Wily... It's completely out of place, honestly

5. BOSSES! And I must say: each boss is amazing in its own way, because they have qualitatively remade the AI. And in the castle of Wily - even a new, original made. Surprised even, even very. Are there any original bosses? In fact, they are. Of the 8 robomasters, only one is selected, but to justify it: it already has a complex AI, so there is no need to change it. There are two of them in Mr.X's castle... But there's nothing wrong with that

6. Abilities and special techniques. Abilities are altered in a different way. Some new, completely changed, some improved old ones. Anyway, each of them is useful! And about special techniques, I will highlight the change "rush jet suit Adapter". It has become more convenient. Comparable to the "rush jet" device from MM3.

7. Switching between abilities. One button and you already have a different ability. Comfort on the face

Neutral points in this hack. They are, I will list them by points:

1. One level - pass on a certain ability. I agree that this may not be fair (KAIZO), but in contrast, I will say this: "Training is the key to success." The most important thing is to press the direction button correctly and make sure not to fall into a pit or spikes. It is easier there, and at the beginning you are given a lot of lives and weapons replenishment... Almost that you can Farm.

2. Tricky code at the end of the game. Here is first thought, to what a certain code... And then I remembered MM7... And you know, this is BOSS rush of a kind. Do not pass purely levels, but only bosses. Small details from developers (^_^)

3. Lack of some levels. It doesn't get in the way if you don't dig into it.

The ROM hackers team - did a tremendous job on the hack. Everyone contributed a piece of their experience. Levels are made with "love"... With his vision of beauty. And because of this - I am pleased to pass this creation. This hack is one of the top 5 in the list. And even sometimes it seems that you are playing a different number part.

Rockman 6 Spirit Of Hackers - From me he gets :"I Recommend it to EVERYONE"

Kinda all over the place, but worth a lookhojo2019-01-06Version 1.0

First of all, the version is misleading. As of the time of writing this review, this hack is listed as v1.0, but the hack itself is not complete, and the game will tell you as much as soon as you start it. To be more specific, there's 2 Mr. X levels that aren't done yet, right now they start you right outside the boss gate and the bosses themselves are not much changed from their original versions.

Everything else is done in terms of level design, but a lot of things will have you wondering if they're still incomplete or just a product of this being a collaborative work. Take Knight Man for example, his AI routine doesn't resemble the original one in any way, it even uses custom sprite work, compared to him, most of the other Robot Masters AI's feel very basic, their routines feel similar to the originals but buffed in one way or another, but does that mean they're incomplete or is this just the way the individuals who designed them wanted to be? Who knows. Same can be said about the weapons, you got a few completely new ones, while others are more or less buffed versions of the older ones.

The levels themselves do feel complete, but they're all over the place, some are better than others. Not much in terms of new gimmicks, but I did like Yamato Man's stage in which you have to deactivate 4 barriers to progress (think Sword Man's stage in MM8).

The difficulty is very reasonable (albeit with some annoying stages like Wind Man's and Blizzard Man's) until you get to the castle levels, then things start getting frustrating, there's a particularly nasty segment in Mr X's levels that involves using Knight Man's weapon and is borderline kaizo-hard, if you play on a flash cart though, at the very least they were nice enough to put a respawn point with a bunch of lives just before it.

The engine also has some of puresabe's usual QOL improvements like real time weapon switching with select, instant health pickups and new to MM6, instant switching to Power or Jet adapter (that's right, no annoying intermission screen!), much appreciated. Speaking of the Jet adapter, it has been modified to work with manual flight (think MM3 Rush Jet) instead of those weird physics it had originally.

Overall, despite the inconsistent quality, this is still a good hack and worth keeping an eye on, who knows, maybe the completed version will balance everything out.

The single best Megaman 6 hackSatoshi_Matrix2018-12-17Version 1.0

Puresabe strikes once again with what is undoubtedly the single best hack of Megaman 6.

This hack has everything - brand new levels, boss AI, weapons, ASM changes, really cool stage gimmicks such as getting to the secret area in Flame Man's stage by not allowing any of the oil pipes to catch fire, original music, and more.

I'd been following this hack's development when it was known as Skype, and even in its beta it had proven itself a real winner.

The only real negative thing to say about the game is that due to it's collaboration nature, the various robot master stages each feel a little inconsistent from one to another - a clear sign they were designed by different people with different ideas in mind.

Still, none of the levels are bad, and this is by far one of the best hacks in the series history. Play it.
