Great Hack, and the playability is EPIC! The Ermac fight was difficult, but was as expected. For those curious on the extra features:

Play as NOOB SAIBOT: Highlight Sub-Zero, hold ⬅️ + A + B + C & press START! Keep the ⬅️ Arrow & these 4 buttons held until any match begins! (Note: You must hold down the ⬅️ Arrow & these 4 buttons every time before another match!)

Play as NOOB SAIBOT: Press the MODE (SELECT) button to switch NOOB SAIBOT'S Move List!

Play as REPTILE: Highlight Scorpion, hold A & press START! Keep the 2 buttons held until any match begins! (Note: You must hold these 2 buttons down every time before another match begins!)

Playing as REPTILE: Press the MODE (SELECT) button to switch REPTILE'S Move List!

Fight Ermac: Complete the game without using a Continue!

Incredible. This is now my preferred version of this game on all platforms. I only hope someone similarly hacks the assets in the Sega CD version to match this. Tested working on Everdrive MD v 2.4 and Everdrive MD Pro on a model 1 Genesis. Also tested working on a Retro-Gen adapter on an SNES.

THIS version of M.K. should have been on the Sega Genesis instead of that old existing one! Too bad nobody's able to play as Goro nor Shang Tsung though. That would have been so EPIC! You can FINALLY play as the Legendary M.K.1 Green Ninja himself, REPTILE! Now we have NOOB:

This is a great hack. A lot closer to the arcade version. A LOT! Voices are amazing.

Hope you can mod a little more the life bars to make it more like arcade, with the names inside the bar.

This is THE PORT Probe should have been released way back then! New and astoundgin clear sounds, blood and all the switches already available from start, backgrounds details added, correct order of music, Ermac playable even if we didn't even need it, and much more than I could tell here. If only all the bosses and secret ninjas become playable in future releases, it would be even greater!

So don't waist any time and start playng this masterpiece of a hack right now!

Love Love Love this version! Thanks for bringing this to the Genesis. I did a full playthrough with a bunch of characters on stream. The only thing I noticed was a sound hum on certain screens when playing on the MiSTer FPGA.

This is a big upgrade over the Genesis original in so many ways. The new graphics like Sub Zero and Scorpion now having different stances are very well done. All the added sounds also greatly improve the feeling of the game. Some of my favorite features are the blood is there from the start - no more DULLARD cheat or "ABACABB". The portraits are also improved. There are a bunch of little touches that make this a truly great romhack. Probably the best improvement is that Reptile is now playable. He is just like he was in MK1, a reskin with the powers of both Scorpion and Sub Zero. You just press the mode button on a 6 button controller and can switch your stance. If you enjoy MK1, play this version of the game. Mortal Kombat Arcade Edition is now one of the best ways to play Mortal Kombat 1.

This hack accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do: Make the Mega Drive/Genesis port of Mortal Kombat closely resemble the arcade original. This includes a major graphical overhaul, adding in the arcade voice samples, giving options such as free play, the arcade or Genesis music order, and hints to fight/unlock Reptile. There really isn't a single negative point to this hack, it's the arcade experience on the Genesis, but with Matt Furniss's superior music arrangements.

I must say that after playing this hack, as if it really was the arcade version that was exactly ported to Genesis. Everything looks very nice, I like the new features. Too bad that Reptile is 'SCORPION' here, but it doesn't really annoy any water. As a little suggestion it could be 'REPTILE' in later update.

The added sound samples are game changing, not having to put in a blood code and having a way to toggle it without having to put in the dullard code is great as well. This really is what should have been released by the pros back in 1993.

MK Arcade Edition is an outstanding upgrade to the original Sega Genesis version. Adding extra detail, and extra sound effects that makes the game more satisfying. And the added extras (A.K.A Dip Switches) adds more variety to the gameplay. It's the rom hacks people should have in their ROM hack collection

Great rom hack, this challenges the Sega CD MK port in arcade authenticity!

The latest update fixes the issue of the game freezing after the third round. Tested on a Mega Everdrive Pro. Excellent job, highly recommended for MK fans.

This hack is absolutely killer. It makes the Genesis version of Mortal Kombat SO much closer to the arcade. Can't recommend enough.

This project is one I've been following since it started months ago, and after much anticipation its finally been released just in time for Christmas!

This hack fixes all the problems with the original, and adds so much more! The blood code is already enabled, along with the dullard menu. The backgrounds have been totally reworked, and all graphics enhanced. The announcer is now incorporated, which is the one thing as a kid that bugged me. Reptile is playable via code input, Ermac is a secret character to fight, along with Noob Saibot!

As a Mortal Kombat fan, this definitely delivers! I've had no issues as of yet, and I highly recommend this hack! This definitely made my Christmas!

This hands down. The BEST Mortal Kombat 1 hack for Genesis. It's got all the bells and whistles from the arcade game (and then some).

Though the only minor nitpick I have is I wish there was a way to not only play as Goro and Shang Tsung but you could perhaps play as the two hidden ninjas as well by performing the "blood code" on the high score screen as it'd play the reptile clue sound to indicate you can now play as the bosses.

Other than that this is fucking perfect. 11/10 christmas gift master.
