| An impressive new adventurer of a beloved classic. | windy_83 | 2024-05-08 | Version 1.0 |
This hack follows the same number of stages and progression from the original game, but with an entirely remade stages to the core. New placements, enemies, puzzles, backgrounds, everything is different! Like if this classic had a sequel. All the stages has new themes and backgrounds, and there's even new enemies which has unique mechanics. Even the bosses, besides being familiar, has new and different ways to defeat them. This is a more challenging approach in general compared to the original game too, with some puzzles that gave me a good headache, though not anything too extreme. If you like Goof Troop and wants more, this is basically the way to go on this. Highly recommend!
| A great hack beyond expectations | Tijs0289 | 2022-12-17 | Version 1.0 |
This romhack is just perfect. I played it from start to end in a few days, without too much expectations. On my 3DS with emulation. What what was supposed to be a minor game romhack experience, turned out to be a full and complete overall experience. It feels as a complete new Goof Troop 2, what it would have been like. Not only does the romhack stick to the orginal game design, the level design was just plain fun. It has 4-5 worlds like the original. Even the bosses were fun and all, but most importantly the gameplay very close to original. I very much liked the star box puzzles, they kept the experience very fun and challenging. Sometimes challenging, but not too hard or anyting. I really recommend this rom to anyone who considers playing it.
| I was impressed by this romhack! | 09419018 | 2022-12-15 | Version 1.0 |
I'm usually very demanding when it comes to videogames, and I have to say that this romhack is incredibly good! It really felt like playing a new goof troop again! The new bosses were really challenging and fun, especially the castle boss! I really liked the castle design with walking around outside until finding the key to the castle. The puzzles were not too easy but not too hard either, which is pretty good, and there were a lot of balance between stages from puzzle to puzzle. The last levels were not really my style (visually) but it was a great idea! There were not bad tho! Thank you so much for making the romhack, we enjoyed it so much. I already shared it in my discord with a lot of other people from the speedrun community. Thank you so much!
| The romhack I've always wanted to play | AfricaByToto147 | 2022-07-13 | Version 1.0 |
I must have beaten the original Goof Troop with my brother over 10 times now, but we always wanted more. As great as it is, Goof Troop is a short game. So I never quite understood why one of the best multiplayer games on the SNES library never got any sequels or worthy romhacks. Until now, that is. Goof Troop ST: Space Treasure is exactly what I've always wanted: The same game, the same mechanics, but NEW levels. The graphics of the levels haven't changed much, until the last stage, which is on space and features brand new tilesets and spritework. The creator has a nice sense of difficulty progression, making the first levels nice and easy, just like the original Goof Troop, and it gets more and more challenging as it goes, through both enemies and puzzles. The puzzles are also something I'd like to highlight here. They have just the right amount of difficulty, both the early puzzles and the endgame puzzles. The moment it truly dawned on me that this hack was something special was when me and my brother stood up and got closer to the TV screen, pointing to the star blocks trying to figure out how to solve the block puzzles, saying "if we kick this one through here, here, and here, then that one goes there, there and there..." I felt like I was 9 years old again, playing this game for the first time with my cousins, when we still had no idea how to beat the puzzles and we used to get up close to the TV screen, pointing to the possible puzzle routes like that. All of the bosses also have some unique fun spin. Not something I would call a necessity, but it's nice to know that the bosses won't be exactly the same as they've always been. Overall, it was pretty much a perfect romhack. Thank you, LucasMegaStriker, for creating this gem of a hack. Playing through this was even more fun than I expected a decent Goof Troop romhack to be.
| What a blast | 39smooth | 2022-07-10 | Version 1.0 |
What a great romhack. I was so pleasantly surprised to find a Goof Troop hack. It has the spirit of the classic and is difficult in all of the right places without making you want to pull out your hair. I was able to play it on my Everdrive on my SNES without issue. Love the vapor wave palm trees. 10/10 recommend.
| The first real hack of this game | Vinzelles | 2022-04-04 | Version 1.0 |
I'm at the very end of the game, trying to figure out the gold key puzzle in the last level, and failing for the time being. From what I've seen this hack is nice and simple map design-wise: the rooms are not super-detailed or anything like vanilla but they function well, and the branches in the paths do not stretch for long nor do they give unnecessary items. Conversely that does mean that there are no secrets to be discovered: namely there are no optional paths, all the rooms are visited at least once in all levels, making this a very straightforward hack. The time you'll take to complete this hack is more or less the same as the vanilla game: the bosses are of course the same but some of them have a twist that make it a little more interesting (when it works, that is: maybe they're not meant to and are just there to spruce up the room, but the little UFOs in the caterpillars' boss fight do not shoot fireballs. Looking at the other boss rooms' design, it feels like they're supposed to shoot). The puzzles' difficulty is about the same as vanilla, maybe a tiny bit harder but that could be because they're fresh puzzles I never cleared before. I see no glaring issues overall gameplay-wise: it's a nice first try at making entirely new levels in GT and there are no graphical glitches either (I am baffled that the twin skeletons' boss fight works as smoothly as it does, and gameplay peaks right there for me). I'm excited to see what other hacks Goof Troop will receive in the future, as I love this game despite how simple it is in concept.
| A hack made with great affection. | MrWaster | 2022-04-04 | Version 1.0 |
I really liked the puzzles and new ways to face the bosses. Some moments are quite challenging to play with Goofy, but I see it as a positive point, the game is more difficult playing with him.
