I always tought they revamped the graphics of Sonic the Hedgehog for the MS because the Genesis ones would not fit into the 8-bit console limitations, but here goes the fans and proves again that this wasn't the case! Altough they kept the same level design as the vanilla version, it still does the job to make us feel like playing the Genesis version, but in 8 bit flavour, more than recomended!

A while back i was thinking to myself that there aren't a ton of hacks for SMS. Funny thing is for as many hacks as Sonic games have received on Genesis, the SMS Sonics have gotten way less love. I feel like this is the hack the game deserved. I'll admit this was my first time playing the game as honestly in the past I just played the Genesis version of Sonic 1 or other Genesis Sonic hacks. This hack really updates the game into basically a visual remake. I have no idea how much work went into this project but the results are night and day better than the vanilla graphics. I feel like this is the hack that will cause a lot of people to give this game a chance like it did for me. Thanks to the author for the effort and time put into this hack.

The thing that impressed me more, is how it sometimes, looks like you're really playing the Genesis version. Other nice touch, it changes the songs to the Genesis counterpart too, so Marble zone has an 8-bit rendition of Genesis Marble zone theme.

Amazing work, and the kind of graphic revamp I with we could see more often here! Ten out of ten!

Well, color me impressed! Some of the tiles are incredibly similar to their Mega Drive counterparts, even though they might look smaller or a bit washed out. Sonic's sprite was spruced up slightly and they even bothered to add 8-bit remixes of the original version's zones. I just wish a brave composer would add support for the Master System FM add-on

This is one of those hacks one has the good fortune of seeing once in a blue moon, spurred by pure talent, dedication and love for a franchise.

Sega themselves could never have done it, and likely never will, considering how badly they treat their fans and most of their IPs, but as usual, fans come to the rescue!

What you get here is an incredible demake of the Blue Blur's first outing on the Mega Drive, perfectly adapted in scrumptious 8-bit flavor, ready for consumption.

Zones are faithful and even the music was ported over fittingly to the incredibly nostalgic Master System sound style.

If you are a Sonic fan and are still reeling back from the latest of Sega's blunders, play this, enjoy a trip back in time and feel vindicated, all at the same time.
