Hack description

Return to Grans is a more challenging version of the original game, which also features a better narrative as well as improved visuals.

- Dialogue in the game has been vastly reworked - about 40% of all text passages have been altered, replacing the oftentimes bland writing of the original.
- Most of the not so appealing graphics in vanilla SF2 have been improved/replaced, such as the battle sprites of the Vicars or the Archers.
- Difficulty and balance have been reworked by tweaking enemies' stats, skills and numbers on the battlefield. Battles will usually appear familiar due to mostly the same enemies and setups, but will often play out quite differently thanks to new abilities, magic spells and some surprises.

Gameplay-wise, the hack will require you to play more tactical; careful positioning and a well-thought-out composition of your party are more important than in the original game.

Shining force 2 return to Grans is quite a hack. Let me summarize : The author brings in updated graphics - which are eye candy, brings in challenge - which is welcome, and most of all - a very very well written story. This game gives us a treat to feast on. The old vanilla game is great in its own way, but here you got to hold up and be more strategic as the description says. But I must say the dialog is the best part. Usually the action takes the cake and it's great here, but that editing to the dialog makes this like a novel. After a long fight, you get engrossed in a retelling of the classic story more intelligent, interesting and fresh making everything flow like a river. I gotta give major kudos. Thank you for the work and a major breath of fresh air.
