The Legend of Zelda: The Shadow's Fall
By Jared_Brian_ 01/18/23 - 08/12/23
V2.0

Description:
The Legend of Zelda: The Shadow's Fall is a short 2-4 hour long hack that was originally made over the course of 18 hours as part of a casual challenge between Letterbomb, Zarby89, Scawful, and Jared_Brian_. Each had to design the entirety of the overworld, dungeons, story, ASM, and everything else in between with the 18-hour time limit, only allowing extra time for testing and bug fixing.

This is the follow-up to that original version featuring a ton of bug fixes and new content. The 3 dungeons, overworld, and general item progression are mostly the same but you will find a few changes here and there. The difficulty has been rebalanced making the game much more forgiving. A new music track, a custom title screen, credits, and new story content have been added. Most importantly of all a new end sequence has been added as well as a completely new secret ending to find.

The download .zip file contains both the V2.0 patch and the original V1.0 patch.

Description:
The Legend of Zelda: The Shadow's Fall is a short 2-4 hour long hack that was made over the course of 18 hours as part of a casual challenge between Letterbomb, Zarby89, Scawful, and Jared_Brian_. Each had to design the entirety of the overworld, dungeons, story, ASM, and everything else in between with the 18-hour time limit, only allowing extra time for testing and bug fixing. That being said, a V2.0 which will include a custom title screen, a few bug fixes, a few more palette changes, additional story content, and a proper end sequence will eventually be released. However, this version is fully playable and features 3 full dungeons, additional caves/houses, 16 overworld areas, custom palettes, and some custom ASM events.

The patch needs to be applied on ALttP (US), with no header. You need a BPS patcher to patch the ROM.

Small Hack with Big Promise!Subject N2812023-11-10Version 2.0

For such a short time needed to make this Hack, It was very good! I very much enjoyed the story it was telling. Difficulty is a good bit tough but not impossible. Enough exploration will net you goodies you need to survive any more difficult parts.

The only issues I'd say I had was the clarity towards the end could of been the slightest bit more polished but managed to get to the end just fine after hitting my head against it a little. Also there was an item I got that seemed to really not serve much purpose and that sort of threw me way off. As the hack says there are multiple endings so attempting to decipher the secrets can be a little tough when you have a red herring in your inventory. As much as it sounds like, these are relatively small issues I had.

OVERALL: Pretty good! I liked it. Here's to the future!

P.S. I played the hacking using a custom sprite and I'd personally say it enhanced the experience a good deal! Very much recommend! (Just ignore pronouns for female character sprites~)

Fun Hack, Nice ColorsMylocke2023-05-29Version 1.0

I Love the Colors of the world in this hack. Difficulty was a good challenge and the bosses were fun to fight so early in the game. Resource economy was a bit tight but Dungeons and world were fun to navigate.
