Hack description

- Description -

A Zelda 3 hack started on 2/1/2023 and finished on 4/10/2023 while on an 30 hour timer. This hack has a small overworld, but it is filled to the brim with every item in the game along with 9 dungeons in total. Every single cave and house is redesigned, and there are a bunch of graphic edits and palette changes. As with 18 Hours Past, there's kind of a story set in place but it's not the main focus of the game. There are some custom events though that relate to the story, so the creator at least tried to put more of a story in. This game is also pretty bugless at this point, so unless if something game breaking is found, this will probably be the final patch.

- Story -

The story takes place in Castle Town, which is where Link has been living ever since he was born. One day, he entered the Castle Town Tower with his father, and his father told him about the Tower and how it holds a mysterious treasure inside of it. As Link started to grow up, he became more and more curious about the Tower's Treasure. Soon enough, he finally decides to explore the Tower for the first time, and all the while an unknown evil has entered the Tower for the Treasure...

A condensed and fun Zelda!Ok Impala!2024-03-13Version 1.00

This hack surprised me in many ways! I think this is my first Link to the Past hack that I enjoyed from start to finish. Interconnected Strongholds condenses all the elements of LttP into a much smaller world. And the game is all the better for it. There is no filler. This game gets you right into the action and never stops. The dungeons are well designed with a surprising amount of thoughtful puzzles. Each dungeon is centered around an item, just like in A Link Between Worlds. You can use other items to solve the puzzles, but the fun is in figuring out how to traverse each room using only the dungeon item. There are some really clever design ideas here.

The difficulty is perfectly balanced and leans towards the easy side. The average Zelda player will have no problem beating this game.

As for some minor negatives. The time based puzzles are a treat when you have save states at your disposal. Every time I beat a timed puzzle, I got a little "yeah!" boost. Though they might be a little too frustrating on real HW. There are also some minor graphical glitches with enemies clipping through pillars and some weird colors here and there.

Overall, this is the best LttP hack I've ever played. I highly recommend giving it a try. Playthrough time is about 4-6 hours, depending on your playstyle.

Good Condensed HackSubject N2812024-02-28Version 1.00

I appreciate this hack being more centered around obtaining items at the beginning before Exploring through.

I'd say while most puzzles are appreciated, any reward aside from making it through the dungeon was fairly lackluster.

The titular tower is much more important that the game lets on as it houses a variety of things to make the journey through some of the harder parts of certain dungeons easier. As someone who expected it to be just a gauntlet to the end game, I had not bothered to look inside earlier to grab stuff, which made the hack a touch difficult.

TLDR Conveyance is a touch weak BUT not a deal breaker, I honestly enjoyed the challenge there was a puzzle here and there that made low hearts a bit of a frustrating issue but managed nonetheless.

Pretty decent~ The work put into the Overworld is solid, a few updated sprites for some of the sub weapons are neat, and the puzzles do indeed use the items to their fullest. I also appreciate bombs being able to subvert some solutions making it not impossible should the answer not be 100% clear from time to time.

A Fun, Must Play HackMylocke2023-06-15Version 1.00

Dare I say, the best Complete Zelda 3 Hack I think I've ever played. I commented to myself while playing the 18 Hour hacks that they (Letterbomb, Zarby89, & Jared_Brian_) should collaborate. They were WAY ahead of me and I am so glad they did.

It is a bit short for as much fun I was having but damn, what a breath of fresh air. Each Core Item has it's own dungeon you might use the item in to get through it, they are well designed and fair, and generally intuitive but still can be challenging. You get the weapon first, and earn it after by using it to it's full potential to get a key as progress towards the final boss and more treasure on the way. This is this stuff I like to see in my hacks! Doing what the original game could only dream of with the same hardware and items.

Save States are a huge help, but I would love to run this on Native Hardware and play it again sometime.
