How A Tool Should Behseiken2022-01-29Version 2

There's quite a few tools that focus on doing one thing well and requiring other edits and hacking to be performed by other tools. This is fine and dandy for a lot of folks, but personally I am averse to bouncing around between a lot of different tools that all behave differently and end up accidentally overwriting something done in one tool after not saving in another tool, so that has to be reloaded and fixed, etc. etc. In other words, unless you're meticulously organized and can mentally juggle all of the tools being used, these specialized programs are great.

For me, that's not so great and I appreciate when a tool covers every 'non code' possibility that can be changed in a game, including graphics, palette, maps, enemy behavior, door and item locations, etc. etc.

There should be more tools this comprehensive that do everything. People may argue that it doesn't do anything super awesomely well and they may be right, but it does everything at least competently and all in one place. It's too bad an all-in-one that opens up everything about a game, including graphics editing, isn't the standard release. So definitely cherish the fact this tool exists, even if it's for a game you may not think too highly of.

To me, this is the gold standard by which all other NES hacking tools should be compared to.
