| A spooky, fun Halloween obstacle course | spiderfreak1011 | 2023-08-01 | Version 1.0 |
Played this on a whim and thought it was a nice, short, fun time. The game is basically a really cool Halloween themed obstacle course that if you're new to the Metroid modding scene teaches you how to speed boost with the morph ball (which you can't do in the original Super Metroid) and also has a neat hover jump (only A to spin jump and stay in the air without gaining height) that you can also shinespark (you don't need to press down to activate this shinespark, it just carries over as you jump). This hack is pretty tough, I won't deny I had to savestate a lot since this requires you to do a lot of really complex inputs and to be very fast about making precise well timed manuevers with a lot of shinespark/speedboost techs, so don't feel ashamed to do so. The sprite design looked super cool, Samus has a really awesome red and black suit design and her blinking yellow visor added to the creepy Halloween feel, as well as the awesome black orange red and yellow aesthetic for all the sprites fitting the mood and looking like they had a lot of work put into them. Well done hack all around and a fun short time. Playtime: 55 minutes.

Don't expect to find an adventure game here. This is a nice little obstacle course to challenge your Super Metroid skills. 3 Levels, with health restore at the end of each. So bone-up on your ball dash and hover spin and challenge yourself to go at it again but faster the next time around. (Why didn't the author warn us that this isn't an actual game? I'll never know...)
