| Fun for my niece | Uncle_Jo | 2024-05-20 | Version 2.0 |
I used this hack and added the Roll-Chan hack for my niece to play. She's 6. She made it to Cutman and then died. Lol. It's still too hard for her, but at least she has a fighting chance now. I gender swap and easy hack a ton of games for my nieces, and now this one is in the rotation.
| Way too easy | Haniel | 2022-08-07 | Version 2.0 |
While I understand that this is a challenging game for some, this hack makes the game so easy that it takes away from the charm and challenge that attracted so many of us to it. Making weapons use only one bar makes no sense, and the hack comes across like a "cheat" code instead of a real improvement. It also kills the replay value of the game because you can blow through the game rapidly and have no need to go back and try to do things differently or better. I can't recommend this hack at all. The game isn't that hard to begin with and I think this hack takes away from the game more than it adds. I recommend the original game, but I do not recommend this hack. It does what it says it does, and that is exactly the problem.
| Mega Man Simplified - EH | Dobu_GM | 2022-05-14 | Version 2.0 |
Mega Man Simplified Levels: Eh Graphics: No Change Music: No Change Enemies: No Change Bosses: Eh (health & damage tweaks) Weapons: Eh (use less ammo) Castle: Eh Difficulty: EASY Comments: This Simplified version of Mega Man 1 comes the closest to achieving its goal, but still misses the mark. A couple of pits and spikes remain this time around but the stages are littered with power-ups and tweaked gravity, allowing Mega Man to jump one block higher. These are good adjustments that make the game easier without neutering it, but the balance is all over the place. The first bit of Bomb Man's stage and Wily 1 are untouched, the notorious pit in Ice Man's stage can be conquered by merely holding right, Elec Man and Big Eyes still do too much damage, the Yellow Devil and Ice Man only do measly slivers of damage, etc. I don't think this is a good hack for newbies, which is a shame as Mega Man 1 needs an easy mode the most. But hey—at least an attempt was made.
| Great for practice or casual play | Cookieskoon | 2014-12-11 | Version 2.0 |
I'll start by saying this is an excellently crafted hack. If you are a beginner to classic Mega Man or a looking for a casual experience, I fully recommend using this hack. My only criticism is that some spots seem a little too easy. Generally the difficulty curb is active enough to keep it fun and it can feel like an official game setting, however some screens, such as the platforming section in the opening of Guts man's stage, remind you that it is a hack when you are experienced in the original. The platforms added are a bit on the nose for ease. Otherwise, as I said before, an excellent hack. Definitely give it a try.
