Hack description

In this hack of the original Mega Man, the levels have redesigned and made slightly harder. Each Robot Master is now weak to new weapons, giving the player the thrill of discovering what boss is weak against what again.

The title of the hack is based on some of the awkwardness of what happens whenever a player respawns after death. Many times enemies with glitchy graphics show up at this time. This is fun to some extent, but be sure to make a save state before entering the final boss room. If Mega Man respawns after the fight, Dr. Wily's ship will appear within footsteps after Mega Man teleports!

Mega Man SNAFU - EHDobu_GM2024-01-21Version 1.0

Mega Man SNAFU

Levels: Eh

Graphics: Eh (Palette Change)

Music: No Change

Enemies: No Change

Bosses: Eh (weakness change)

Weapons: No Change

Castle: Bad

Difficulty: EASY-MEDIUM

Comments: SNAFU is somewhat of a sloppy NG+ mode for the original Mega Man. On one hand, it does indeed make the game harder by adding in some more enemies and pits (along with changing boss weaknesses so you're guaranteed to die against Fire Man and Guts Man), but on the other hand the changes are just too... subtle? Unsubstantial? Boring? Enemies stay the same on a screen by screen basis, the color palette is sometimes horrendous, and despite boasting that it's a "harder" hack, the extra health pickups sprinkled around (like in the boss rush) make it out to be "hard, but really not that hard." More could've been done here.

Awesome level hack!Insane Mame Gamer (IMG)2023-06-02Version 1.0

If you're a Mega Man 1 fan I highly suggest playing this hack! Honestly, I couldn't find anything wrong with it. My one and only beef I have with this one is that it's a little bit too easy as my first time ever playing it I made it all the way through in way less than an hour. Like probably 35-40 minutes and with only dying two or three times. In the future I could definitely see myself playing a lot more of this game which is more than I can say for a lot of the other ones.

It is buggy, but completely playableKallisto2017-02-07Version 1.0

This modification has the usual palette swaps, different weapon weakness, and changed up stages. The stages don't deviate too much from the original game, but it provides a extra challenge only in certain areas of each stage, and some of the boss rooms provide unique strategies to taking out each out Robot Master.

The problem with this romhack is not so much the gameplay, but when you are defeated. If you fail during a stage, and warp back to your last checkpoint..there is chance for bugged up enemies to appear where they should not be, and this even happens for the final boss which causes the game to freeze up. Outside of that there was actually one bugged up enemy where it should be inside Guts Man stage, but this is a lesser issue.

Overall this romhack is actually decent, and I recommend using save states as your checkpoints in order to avoid that fatal bug.
