Decent hack, but too difficultKevvyLava2022-04-24Version 1.01

I spent a couple of hours playing this tonight and I think it's too difficult. Mega Man 2 is my favorite NES game and I would estimate I've beaten the original at least a hundred times, so I'm super familiar with the entire game top to bottom. I appreciate the additional challenge in some areas for sure, but there are some pixel perfect jumps that are sorry of obnoxious and sometimes it feels like you're getting spammed by enemies rather than there just being good enemy placement. If someone is experienced as me is struggling to beat more than one stage after multiple tries then I think it's too difficult. But it's professionally done, so I definitely give the author credit.

...look like this"

I start with the approval of the review, because in reality this hack is much more complicated than the original.

Let's start with the fact that the Level Design is made qualitatively. But there are sections in the hack where there is no way without "luck" and "time freezing". I noticed this in the CRlash man stage (when we climb up) and in the Wily Castle 4 stage (Mettaur - does not allow us to get to the right place when climbing the stairs).

A successful redesign of the "boss room", because in each one I found my own unique cases and situations. Everything is honestly going through, although at first it will be difficult to understand what's what here.

In general: "If you wanted a real HARD difficulty, then this hack will just perfectly show it"

I recommend it, because it was really an interesting Experiment to go through more difficult parts of the game

Bosses: Okay (New Rooms)

Weapons: No Change

Castle: Okay

Difficulty: EASY-MEDIUM

Comments: A decent hack that replicates "Hero Mode" pretty well for Mega Man 2. Stages have gotten a noticeable tune-up in difficulty using the original enemy compositions, but unfortunately the author is very keen on narrow corridors that the player can't avoid taking damage in. That, and the inherent unevenness of the Mega Man 2's weapons and easiness of its bosses makes the game a pretty challenge-less affair (except for the new Wily 2 boss room). Still, the hack successfully accomplishes what it sets out to do.

Exactly what it says on the tin.Giga5712015-02-20Version 1.0

This is a good challenge, not ridiculously hard (except perhaps the underwater spike jumps, if you're bad at timing) and definitely not easy, or at least not as easy as the base game. Every stage has been made harder somehow, from removal of Energy Tanks (though I still ended up with four at the end) to vast stage design changes and increased amounts of enemies.

It seems like the author either didn't want to or couldn't change enemy AI, so the challenge is all in the stages, and not the bosses. Not even the weakness order or how much damage each weapon does to each boss has been changed. Even so, the stages are well designed, I think.

I had fun with this one, and I think anyone who can beat the base game will have a good time with this hack.
