Hack description

This is a hack of the original title, The Legend of Zelda.

It features the following new things:

• New overworld

• New dungeons

• Somewhat new enemies

• New overworld elements (like snow)

• New sprites, although many sprites were kept the same
in order to retain the feel of the original game.

The modders wanted to create a more open overworld than the original game.
The dungeons can be completed in any order (except for the final dungeon).

As the prologue couldn't be hacked into the in-game cut-scene it will be
listed here:

Years after Gannon was destroyed, his followers visited amber mountain,
there they tried to resurrect their darkened master. Amber mountain was their chosen location because of it's connection to the great magical currents that flow in this world.

Whilst resurrecting The Great King of Evil, his minions caught word of the resentful spirits of who had attacked Hyrule long ago. They where a legion of fallen soldiers who had stormed Hyrule in ages past, coveting the power of the Gods, the Triforce. But When they had attacked, the seven sages sent a snowstorm to the southern reaches of Hyrule, and the snowstorm swallowed most all of the army. The survivors starved to Death.

The Great Ganon cut a deal with these forsaken warriors, he would give them bodies again, bodies of stone, and he would allow them to join him and take revenge on the Hylians. . .

If only they would bow to him.

Thus is the legacy of the Stone Legion.

Don't play this until it's fixed.Darklink78842016-02-24Version 1.0

I really enjoyed this hack. The new overworld map was well done, and the new sprites were unique. However, the dungeons are still in beta form and need some serious work, as mentioned in a previous review. For example:

  • * Dungeon maps are inaccurate.
  • * Impossible to access the staircase in Level-2.
  • * Doorways do not match. For example, in Level-2 there is a bombable wall on one side and a shuttered door on the other.
  • * Manhandla fight towards the end of Level-2 is glitched.
  • * Level-4 is missing a Triforce piece at the end of the dungeon.
  • * Some bosses do not leave behind a Heart Container when defeated.

All in all, it's a great hack and was really fun to play. However, I can't recommend it to anyone until everything mentioned above is fixed.

I am enjoying playing this, however, there is a lot of issues I ran into. There are a lot of overworld screens where when you exit a screen into the next you are stuck in a tree or rock. the lost woods path is the same, There is also a dungeon without a triforce (so far found 1) but the compass says it is there. The dungeon maps are not correct, there are a lot of unmapped rooms and some rooms inaccessible, I think the map is just wrong, I did account for hidden rooms, but this is not the case. Some sprites are messed up, in one dungeon I encountered a Manhandla with dodongo sprites and it was a mess.

Some pros:

  • I liked a lot of the sprite remakes, and also liked keeping some true to the original.
  • I also liked the overworld changes.
  • The dungeon changes were good as well, but the map needs fixed.

I realize this was released in 2013.

The hack is fun, but still needs some tweaks. Great job overall, would recommend after the bug fixes.
