Hack description

This is a simple modification of the Felix the Cat bootleg for the Sega Mega Drive.

This game gained notoriety due to it's game over screen which depicted Felix tearing off his face in a gory manner.

This modification has removed the offending image and replaced it with a simple blank screen.

A hack that literally takes a completely un-notable, boring, utterly unmemorable unlicensed bootleg game that isn't fun to play, and has absolutely nothing going for it at all.......

.....and prides itself on removing the ONE thing that actually made it memorable or gave it any sort of identity, whatsoever.

Why.

There is literally no reason for this hack to exist in any form. If... for ANY reason at all, someone finds themselves being SO unable to handle the hilarious and out of place gruesomeness of this game over screen, then why would they even play this to begin with? You could just NOT play it.

I mean no sane person would ever boot this piece of nearly unplayable dreck up for any other possible reason than to look at the game over screen. The only reason this game is remembered, and the only thing that ever gave it an identity or happened to be the reason it was even discovered, at all.

So removing it, essentially removed any reason for this rom to exist. If you don't want to see the game over screen, then just ignore this rom entirely.

It's like if you took Tommy Wisseu's The Room and edited out every scene with Wisseu in it and every hilariously bad bit of dialogue out from it, so that you were left with several minutes of bland credits and boring scenes with nothing to laugh at. Or if you took Birdemic and edited out every scene of hilariously unconvincing bird gifs hovering around. It doesn't make either product better, it just renders the both of them LITERALLY unwatchable instead of being so bad it's funny, as they normally are.

No one would watch those if it weren't for laughably bad dialogue or poorly composited bird gifs. And likewise, no one would ever touch or care about this without it's infamous game over screen.

This is about as useless and as counter-productive as a rom hack could possibly be. Might as well get to work on a Super Mario Bros rom hack with no level changes, yet Mario can't jump and no way to get past the first Goomba. It would be about as useful as this is.

I... kinda don't get it.AspiringCreator2020-08-06Version 1.0

Now to be fair, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this hack. I played it for myself out of curiosity a long while ago and found it did what it set out to do well. I guess my thing is I don't really see the point when considering the freaky game over screen is what gives this game its identity because outside of that, it's a platformer that's not all that special. For those who absolutely must try this game and are very squeamish I see this being good for but other than that? I'm not sure if I can really recommend something like this.

Its a good start to get rid of that terrible Gameover screen, however I would love to see more than just a blank screen in V1.01 maybe in combination with a translation of the onscreen text to English?

Finally, no nightmares anymorejulayla2017-08-23Version 1.0

Thank you for removing that terrible screenshot. I'll be happily playing the game and not seeing that whenever I get a game over any time. Though to be honest, I would've preferred a "Felix looks disappointed" pic for a Game Over screen rather than what the actual version had. Still, thanks for this.

No more Nightmaresalucard1232017-08-12Version 1.0

Thanks for ridding the game of that nightmarish scene I had worst memories as kid. All that is needed more is to move "game over" string to center of the screen.
