Rockman 3: Winternight Levels: Good Graphics: Excellent Music: Excellent Enemies: Excellent Bosses: Good Weapons: Good Castle: Good Difficulty: EASY-MEDIUM (final level can be rough) Comments: Rounding out the Maestro's speed-enhanced trilogy is Winternight, perhaps the speediest, most refined hack of the lot. There's a big pro and con to this game, stemming from the same source: experience. If this is your first Burst Chaser-type game (where Mega Man is sped up), Winternight is positively perfect, throwing a bunch of fun tricks at you along with beautiful levels and great tunes. If this is your third (technically fourth) BC hack however, it'll feel very much like a "been there, done that", especially since it barely modifies Speed Bound (its base). I think after finishing it I still prefer Speed Bound to Winternight, but that's largely because I like how evil Speed Bound can get at certain points. Winternight on the other hand rushes you along but is gentle with you, although the bosses might give you grief if you haven't encountered them before. Nevertheless, Winternight proves that Maestro has never stopped learning, and its perhaps their most impressive masterpiece yet.
| Is this game even play tested properly? | insectduel | 2018-03-12 | Version 1.0 |
I was asked to beta-test Rockman 3 Winternight via Facebook private message on my business page or fan page whatever they called it before release but I was busy with other projects so here goes. I also hate the fact that the authors never play-tested their games before release. Is this game made for speed runners or someone who's good at Rockman 3's mechanics and strategies? It's no surprise that Rockman 3 Burst Chaser was used as a base rom to create something unique. The GOOD about the this game is the levels especially the doc robot stages when 2 stages are fused into one. What is this, Mega Man Rock Force? I won't criticize the music because the composer who make the game doesn't belong to the authors who originally created the music for each Rockman 1 or 2 hack before porting into Rockman 3 through 5 respectfully which is great because they are composed by original musicians before people taking credit for remixing their own musical work. The BAD about the game is the constant graphic errors in some water stages, cheap blows, tight jumps with little room and soft locking. YES I said soft locking because if you ran out of weapon energy which is needed to pass your game is soft locked and are forced to reset including the Wily stages. Some stages are incredibly hard too! I need to know is why your regular P-Cannon shots blocked for boss battles? No Mega Man / Rockman games are supposed to do that with the exception of the original Mega Man III / Rockman 3 but thankfully all the regular bosses can be killed normally with your P-Cannon. I have to say that this hack is decent but the flaws can still be fixed.
