| Awesome!! a personal favorite!! | Insane Mame Gamer (IMG) | 2023-08-03 | Version 1.3 |
My only complaint with it was that some of the areas were kind of visually repetitive and there could have been more bomb areas to find hidden goodies. What I really like particularly about this one besides the wonderful color changes the character undergoes after obtaining the rings is it's exciting, action packed and there's never really a dull moment especially in the dungeons that are quite expansive in comparison to other Zelda hacks. Like dungeon 8 & 9 were massive, so big it's a wonder I didn't get lost and was able to complete them in a timely manner. During my play through which took me around a day I used a patch for infinite bombs and infinite arrows and it made for a very smooth and quite enjoyable playing experience. I highly recommend this one!
| Absolutely fantastic hack | shelletor | 2022-04-20 | Version 1.3 |
Honestly I created an account soley to comment on this hack. It was so much fun and has a great exploration aspect. It is challenging, but never "mean" or cheap. It definitely falls in line with the original. I believe I 100% it, so everything IS indeed there. I did end up doing a lot of the labyrinths out of order just because of the direction I went in, but I love that I didn't hit too many roadblocks doing that. Highly recommend this if you're looking to scratch that classic Zelda itch.
| Well designed solid Zelda 1 hack, challenging but fair | brianoblivion | 2020-10-13 | Version 1.3 |
I must say this hack initially turned me off with some many forested screens, because I thought the designer would have expected me to actually "burn every bush" (something I don't mind with the red candle, but gets too tedious with the blue). Thankfully this wasn't the case and the over-world and its secrets were very well designed and thought out especially as you progress through the game. Another reviewer said it well, that the "overworld is a maze" in itself which has its own logical progression as you beat more dungeons and gain more items. I found the hack a good challenge but never too difficult. I did fairly easily find the blue ring (and the red ring almost immediately after when I went into a later level earlier than expected of me) which made the later game not difficult. Dungeons in turn were well designed. Overall this was a solid hack, though nothing particularly blew me away or was mind blowing, it was simply a good Zelda hack. I have almost nothing but praise for this work, but I'll add a few nitpicks. As far as hearts went, I ultimately found more hearts than 16 so the extras became useless (maybe I'm just good at finding secrets). I found having more hearts than needed a strange design choice but I guess it rewards players who aren't able to find everything. Another thing was the forest and mountain mazes as well as the upper right screen were the exact secrets from the vanilla game. I actually got stuck at the point where progressing through the forest maze was necessary until I realized I should just try the solution from vanilla LOZ. I figured I would have found an in-game hint at least reiterating this solution rather than assuming the player would just know it from the vanilla game. But perhaps I missed the hint entirely. Neither of these nitpicks are game breaking or really take much away from an otherwise good work.
| The Wrath of Ganon | MAOT666 | 2019-12-17 | Version 1.2 |
Spoilers Ahead: Nice to start off a game by having some easy going Dungeons at first, difficulty starts to pick around dungeon 3 (Seems like that alot lately with hacks) but nothing to serious you cant get through without up-grades. Secrets are easy to come by in dungeons that involve bombable walls, just make sure you check your map if you've gone in that area or you could miss an item you may need going into the next level. This game does involve some grinding with not being many moblin secrets to help you out with rupees, Bait comes by expensive cause you need it early in the game. Thought I missed out on an overworld item just to find it in a later dungeons. This did feel like re-amped version of the 2nd quest of the original Zelda, which is a good thing because that had a great challenge to it like this one. Did get stuck trying to find Death Mountain to gain my White sword, just had to remember a secret from the original. Extra Heart container laying around in the overworld if you happen to miss one Couple flaws, couldn't find the blue ring, makes me think it wasn't in the game, and bomb up-grades either, but the red ring available later on. This was a great hack and was some what challenging to complete, had fun exploring the new map, new secrets, and new dungeons designs, This person knows how to throw together a nice little game, I guess the 2nd quest wasn't finished? But if he gets to making one I will look forward to trying it. Hope this person puts out another game at least in near future. Has good potenial to do so. 8/10
| Wonderful mod of LOZ1! | lexluthermiester | 2019-10-30 | Version 1.2 |
This mod of The Legend Of Zelda for the NES is very well done. The challenge has been bumped up a little bit, but helpful items have been moved to locations which make them useful sooner in the game, which balances out the increased difficulty. I will give one hint without spoiling too much, the Red Ring can be found outside Level 9 and that's all I'm going to say. This project is creatively thought out and carefully executed. Highly recommended to fans of the original game and new players alike! Very well done indeed!
| F(*$@ this game! | Animebryan | 2019-10-27 | Version 1.2 |
I wasted so much time playing this game & even made my own overworld map by screenshotting each screen, and after completing the first 8 levels, there's no Blue/Red Ring anywhere to be found, nor any Bomb Upgrades. I tried to be patient with this game but with no Blue Ring to reduce the annoying damage or Bomb Upgrades to make bombing entrances easier, it just grated & eroded my patience until nothing was left. He even has dungeon rooms that have 4 Bubbles at once! You have any idea how annoying Bubbles are, especially when paired up with Like-Likes & Wizzrobes?
| Extremely good hack, This could easily pass as a 3rd quest on the original LoZ game. | Kuhurdler | 2019-04-12 | Version 1.2 |
I'm about half way through the first quest on this, and am really enjoying it. This is extremely well polished, and very comparable (maybe a little harder) to the game play of the original. Completely new dungeons are both fun and challenging, and definitely need to be done in the right sequence. The overworld is also very well laid out with one very long giant maze. I've not noticed a single bug yet, or even any odd sprites. Very polished. I'm playing on MednafenX-NES on original xbox. Thanks for making this, I look forward to finishing the quest. Please keep up the good work.
