| This hack deserves some love | hdofu | 2021-08-10 | Version 2.0 |
The sprite work with this hack is excellent. It adds to the experience of this hack, there are some subtle asm changes to allow for certain changes from the original Super Mario Brothers, the difficulty is where this hack shines though. It doesn't try to be hard for the sake of being hard but it does have some tricky moments here and there so rather than endlessly frustrate you like quite a bit of Super Mario Brothers rom hacks when you mess up you know its your fault and not some condition you fell into because the hacker is some sadist who just expects everyone is save stating every move. Admittedly the default music does seem out of place but I took a hint from insectduel and just added a custom music patch to it. Overall if you want something that's like a new level design for Super Mario Brothers and kind of has a Great Giana Sister's vibe going on, then this is your hack.
| One of my favorite smb hacks ever | Teeporage777 | 2017-07-06 | Version 2.0 |
Lady opera has to be one of the most unique hacks out there. This game was so neat and I enjoyed every moment of it. It is hard to tell its a SMB hack side from the music, which i wish was changed. You play as a hero that is a girl who who opened a downloaded game but got sucked into the code and is on a quest to escape. Lady opera was nicely done and looks simply adorable. I loved the assembly done to this hack like the islands had animation as well as animated waterfalls. The enemies were really cool and I thoroughly enjoyed the difficulty. I was afraid it would be to hard but not at all. The end of the level ended with a hit to a block like Super Mario Unlimited. All in all an awesome game that really deserves a good play through. It is a five world hack which is great but I loved it so much that I could only wish for more. Hopefully a sequel is in the future but I am not sure if the creator is still active since this hack was released a while ago. If I could gain permission from the author, I would make one myself. I recommend this hack to anyone who likes SMB hacks or anyone who just wants to enjoy a unique hack unlike most Mario hacks out there.
