Hack description

Rockman 5 Metropolis, graphics, sprites, enemies, levels, colors, music, weapons, and bosses have been modified. The mechanics of the game is that of a faster Megaman, graphics from different NES games were used. The slide movement was replaced with dash movement from Megaman X.

Weapon swapping using the SELECT button: SELECT, normal order; DOWN+SELECT, reverse order.

The patch is for Rockman 5 (not Megaman V).

Really good!ichigo_dave2024-05-14Version 1.1a

I've only played a handful of Rockman hacks but this one stands out.

  • Had fun, felt challenged
  • The speed mod sets a really good pace for Rockman and it works well with the level design.
  • Difficulty was good for an experienced casual player (some boss Wily boss fights gave me trouble, but luckily E Tanks were plentiful)
  • A+ for graphics and atmosphere - it feels much more cohesive than MM5 without changing the plot/setting.

Rockman 5: Metropolis - A complex hack, but interesting!diablo6662021-12-08Version 1.1

Talking about the pros: Bosses (although there are dishonest ones), the graphic component, the character's abilities.

50/50: Levels in the game, music.

The graphic part of the game looks interesting, but the levels are very confusing. Bosses have interesting patterns, although, there are, dishonest ones. The basis of the game: Speed and Abilities. Speed is the basis of the accuracy of the hack, and abilities are like a "Second Blaster", although you will have to update the energy of abilities. The music is not suitable in many levels, or it sounds worse than in other hacks (or fan games).

Did I enjoy this hack? Actually, yes. Although it is a complex hack, but it is interesting. Although I know that there are better hacks, but this hack gets the 2nd place AMONG THIS ENVIRONMENT (Among the hacks on Megaman 5). Difficult, fun, interesting. I recommend it to those who need to add adrenaline and new challenges. For ordinary players, it will also be a good experience.

Speed up and blast away!Sosuko2021-09-02Version 1.1

If you've played Megaman hacks that involve speed ups to Megaman such as Burst Chaser, you'll be right at home in this hack. Megaman moves significantly faster and now has a dash instead of a slide, more like Megaman X (though this change is just aesthetic). In fact, everything is faster. Your weapons, the platforming, the enemies, the bosses, etc... All of this extra speed is accounted for in the level design and jumping/shooting though, making it a joy to play through. Levels give you plenty of space to utilize your speed and during boss fights, dashing and jumping skillfully is a must in order to avoid some of the harder patterns.

Aside from the additional speed, all other aspects of this hack are very well-polished. The graphics come from a variety of sources and are blended together really well to give levels their own unique aesthetic. One of my favorite ones has to be Gravity Man's stage, which looks like something out of Contra's Alien-themed levels. The music is also solid throughout, with some pretty unique selections (e.g. Street Fighter 2010). A good amount of the weapons have been changed from their original designs as well, and those that were changed did change for the better.

This is definitely one of my favorite Megaman 5 hacks that I would recommend to Megaman fans of all skill levels.
