This is an interesting hack that puts Link in a completely different Hyrule. One overtaken by machines. I really liked the new setting and all the new graphics that made this Steampunk Hyrule come to live. The new overworld is more linear and therefore easier to navigate then vanilla Hyrule. I especially liked the way the Raft was used to give the player access to a whole new part of the overworld. The dungeons are tightly designed with no obscure tricks needed to find your way around. I liked the foreshadowing of items you see, but can't reach yet. The creator decided to make the items visible in the dungeons themselves, so you don't have to search for a hidden basement this time. I was often pleasantly surprised when all of a sudden, the dungeon item appeared after I cleared a room of monsters. Talking about monsters, the difficulty has been scaled back from the original game. So, you likely won't see that Game Over screen very often. Overall you might say this is a streamlined version of Zelda. You will finish it in just a few hours of playtime, as there is no 2nd Quest yet. But thanks to the clever overworld and dungeon design you will never get frustrated and will just have a fun time. Recommended!
| Another great Hack. Please, please make a 2nd quest! | Kuhurdler | 2021-11-03 | Version 1.01 |
I just finished the 1st quest, and really enjoyed this one. I really enjoyed level 9 especially. I felt like the difficulty of the early dungeons were hard, but the later ones were a bit easy compared to the original LoZ. I really enjoyed the outer world, and the modifications to the graphics. I started playing the 2nd quest, and couldn't figure out how to progress after the 1st level. Turns out that the 2nd quest wasn't intended to be played. I hope the author will continue developing this one, or another one like it. Thanks for all the work you've put in so I could play it!
| A great LoZ hack | StratosVX | 2021-08-01 | Version 1.0 |
I just completed the first quest and I love this hack. The difficulty is about the same as the original game which I prefer. Too many hacks just load up room after room with the higher level enemies to increase the difficulty which, for me, doesn't make the game enjoyable to play. I never had that issue with this hack. Other hacks make the overworld or the dungeons a nightmare to navigate, but this one doesn't. This one really keeps the spirit of the original. Definitely one I recommend.
