This is a shorter hack, as to be expected from something made for a game jam, but definitely worth trying out. As is obvious from the screenshots, the game has a great overall aesthetic, and it maintains that throughout; great for a late autumn evening. The music is really good, too; it's from a number of other games, but they're great selections. There are a few elements added from the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2, as well, like wind and red piranha plants; in addition to that, there are unsquishable goombas and fireproof koopa troopas, so you'll have to rely on your platforming skills, even as Fiery Mario. That said, grabbing 100 coins now grants invincibility, which you can and should use strategically. The level design does start to include some pretty frustrating jumps and tight spaces around Area 7, but that's pretty close to the end of the game; the rest is a fairly even challenge.

Graphically, this is an interestingly constructed landscape consisting of elements of Mario 1 and Mario 3. Plus, the color palette - just shows the essence of this hack. Does not hurt the eyes, not bad, aesthetically dark.

Music is my homage. Sounds good and unique in a way.

A unique style is to submit a hack as in the style of GB games or in spirit as Contra.

Personally, I really liked this approach and it seemed like something fresh and original, so I recommend you to familiarize yourself.
