| Mega Man (2) in Java Island Indonesia - Second pen test, right? | diablo666 | 2021-11-03 | Version 1.1 |
This hack is twofold. At the same time I'm glad I experienced it, but there is something to criticize... Praise for the following: 1. Trying to draw your own graphics. THIS is very commendable. It looks normal. However, this has a hard minus: COLORS... Painful for the eyes... There is such, alas... The palette bounced unnaturally, which was annoying... Praise is for this: 2. Levels. We tried to present them creatively enough. But, honestly, further passing the hack, they were not more interesting... Even one level made me angry... MOMENTS with Quick Lasers. Why don't they work the way they should? In some levels - this is very noticeable, because you fly through them, it seemed there is a second to enter some point, but no - in the face of the laser... The timing is broken.... Also, the levels were sometimes confusing and you didn't know where to go... And because of one enemy, I often had to use the pause Bug-Feature to avoid dying Praise for this: 3. The location of the enemies. It is honestly located, and this is good. BUT there is a downside to this location: Incomprehensible enemies... It's frustrating when you don't know what's killing you Praise for this: 4. AI bosses. We tried to submit them in an interesting way, and some of them came out really interesting. Even surprise. But also a MINUS: MANY bosses - changing the speed - does not make it unique. This moment is more annoying than interesting to win it Praise and immediately say in minus: Changing abilities. I will say that there are attempts, BUT they have changed little... Almost indistinguishable from the original. In cons I will write the following , because it is evident: 1. Megaman's Face. Why is it so funny? Does he like being sent to death? Into the spikes... Terribly... 2. Health bar... Why is it in hearts? Why change it? 3. Broken "Intro" of the boss... I don't know how, but the boss is in the left corner, and its name (for Example: Airman) is in the right. Honestly, there are not enough strong advantages to say that this is something suitable. The situation is smoothed by the fact that this is the author's second work and he has moved a step forward. And the hack itself can be frustrating... More cling to the cons that are visible. And my poor eyes... If anyone wants to, try this... I tried it, and once was enough for me. The attempt is counted, but no more. Not recommended for those who don't want to be disappointed. (although maybe someone will like it) (Note: This review is made from the version that was posted on the Internet, i.e. this one... I didn't touch the hack until I decided to tackle it soberly and pass until the end)
| Mega Man in Java Island Indonesia - EH | Dobu_GM | 2020-05-31 | Version 1.1 |
Mega Man in Java Island Indonesia Levels: Eh Graphics: Eh Music: No Change Enemies: Okay Bosses: Eh Weapons: Eh Castle: Okay Difficulty: MEDIUM Comments: Beneath the outlandish, inimitable, garish exterior is a fairly droll and dull hack. While having the boss AIs and weapons changed is appreciated, they don't really add much flavor or variety to the base game. The most wild thing is seeing what graphics are used in what levels—beyond that, this hack is nothing to write home about.
| Seizure Warning! | Mother Kojiro | 2017-11-26 | Version 1.1 |
A lot of heart and soul went into making this hack, and it's obvious by all of the handmade graphics. A lot of hacks borrow graphics from other games - even the legendary Rockman: No Constancy - and while this does that, it also has a ton of graphics that were made from scratch with love. In fact, this is a big part of what drew me to Anandastoon's work in the first place, and he ranks among my favorite hackers out there. You'll see a beautiful glowing city at night, cool patterns that remind me of the '70s, dark forests with hexagonal patterns, and even an city under shimmering water. There are a lot of flashing graphics, so players prone to seizures, please take heed. Every single aspect of this game has at least been touched, too; enemies and bosses have new behaviors, music has been moved around, and weapons have new graphics and palettes. The weapon palettes are gorgeous, by the bye; my favorite ones are the Items. The visual journey alone is worth powering through this hack. And powering is what you'll have to do; this can be absolutely brutal at times. Enemies are often placed in ways that make it almost impossible to survive, much less evade, for one thing. I think my biggest gripe with the level design would be the multitude of death beams from Quick Man's stage; they're in several stages, and almost every single screen requires pixel-perfect precision. This is hardly exclusive to this hack, but make sure that you beat Flash Man first. One of these is even in a maze; my other "favorite" thing. States are highly recommended! The boss weaknesses could use a little tweaking, too, since there isn't any great way to tackle them without using your arm cannon on more than one of them. Despite the difficulty, though, I do really enjoy this hack.

This romhack was quite interesting, and I would love to know the story behind it if one of you romhackers happens to know the history, let me know! 1) The stages were pretty cool! I was really digging the unique look which I assume patterns off Indonesia. 2) The enemies were all pretty interesting, and placed well throughout each stage. 3) The bosses & weapons for the most part have almost remained the same, so there is really not much for me to comment on about it. 4) The only thing bad about this romhack is the occasional corrupted graphics, and some really cheap traps, and obstacles that require you to either get damaged or get really lucky, so sometimes you may have to use a save state. Also the use of Quick Beams require you to use the time stop weapon at all times or else you'll never get through certain stages. Overall despite the rather rough edges, this romhack is pretty playable, and I would definitely recommend to anyone if someone was looking for a unique experience.
| Difficult, but worth a try. | johnmyster | 2014-07-23 | - |
Megaman In Java Island is a fairly comprehensive level and graphics hack of Mega Man 2. The game's text is an odd mix of Indonesian and English, but this did not detract from the overall experience. After trying 4-5 of the levels, I found that the hack is just too difficult for me, even on the easier difficulty - but I'm sure many hardcore fans will welcome the increased difficult from the original game. It is obvious that a lot of work was put into this hack. I wasn't able to reach any of the bosses so I can't comment on them. Pros:
Cons:
Overall, I'd say the hack is definitely worth a try if you're a fan of the NES Mega Man games like I am. (Hack Version: 1.1)
