| Really wish I could split the difference | Amphy | 2024-07-30 | Version 1.1 |
I made an account just for this review lmao This rom back is really nice, though I feel it went too far in terms of correcting things. I wish there was a version that "splits the difference" so to speak, so every color that gets changed only gets 50% changed instead of 100% changed like this, if that makes any sense Like if I open before & after screenshots in Photoshop, and I go half-and-half between them, everything looks exactly how I'd want it to look. But this rom hack affects a lot of things like almost completely removing the redness in Wario's face, the dumbbells he lifts before boss fights are so dark they blend in with the background, and the purple-and-yellow spacey background behind the minigame choices just becomes a black void with yellow stars. I still recommend this rom hack because it does a lot of good things of course, but I'm also getting a kind of uncanny valley effect from this one that I don't usually get from palette hacks. If there's ever a version that goes 50/50 between changed & unchanged colors, I feel like it would be perfection

You don't really notice how much of a difference this makes until you load up the original after to compare. Playing via MiSTer FPGA outputting at 1440p to a 65" OLED. It's niiiiiice.
| Wario gets a much needed makeover! | Shadowman621 | 2024-06-28 | Version 1.0 |
Looks miles better than the base game. The first thing you'll notice is Wario himself looks really great. Everything is just so much more vibrant. If you love this game like I do, you owe it to yourself to give this hack a spin. You won't regret it!
| Absolutely indispensable! | Red Soul | 2024-06-27 | Version 1.0 |
Sometimes, the subtlest things make the most difference; sometimes, a fine touch was sorely needed, and we only realize it when it takes place. This hack is exactly this. While Wario Land 4 on the GBA didn't suffer as terribly from palette imbalances as earlier games on the system, the difference between the vanilla game and this patch is striking, and impossible to unsee once witnessed. The darker tones have much more definition and the luminance levels are overall far richer and more pleasant; there is no way one could go back to the usual experience after enjoying this lavish color treatment. More than recommended, I call this excellent and mandatory!
| Huge improvement | Nintenja | 2024-06-27 | Version 1.0 |
Gba is known for washed pallettes..this changes that. Colors really pop and look amazing. Night and day difference really. Looks great with xbrz or Scalefx shader too. This is one or the GBA's crown jewels, and now it's even better!
