For the longest time, I thought that the Vice Translation of this game was quite impressive, and it certainly got the job done. But then along come chronix with an addendum, taking Vice's original work, transforming it into one that rivals Konami in terms of overall polish.

The biggest change that this translation has to offer is the change in typeface, which is more bold and resembles the kind of typefaces that were commonly used by Konami and Capcom in the olden days. While there isn't anything terribly wrong with what Vice did, the end result here stands out more easily on a TV and is much easier to read. It also looks much cleaner, especially when comparing the Character Select screen text between the two translations.

I also like the new title screen, which is more stylized and features a green/white sunrise effect that's missing in the Vice translation. It's so well done that if I didn't know any better, I would think that chronix may have worked for Konami and somehow dug up an original title mock-up for a US release that was supposed to happen.

Aside from the cleaner text, character dialog is good wherever it's present. Like many action games of its time, it's very light on text, so there isn't much else to be said about it. Overall, it's a very clean and professional job.
