This is a really fun idea and I think it turned out great. I actually remember trying to play this with a friend's real ROB the Robot and we could barely tolerate it for more than a few minutes. I do wish that you could raise/lower the pipes by pressing the button instead of having to hold down the button. Otherwise, I have no complaints. Now I'd like to see a way to play the Zapper games without a Zapper!
| Sorry R.O.B. , you aren't needed anymore | hdofu | 2022-03-07 | Version 1.0 |
This takes the gimmicky and finicky need to have R.O.B, working the gates by mapping his functionality to controller one. This in turn saves the headache of setting him up, the waste of batteries and allows for easier play in emulators. Definitely the way to play Gyromite today
| Gyromite as it should be re-released. | Chronosplit | 2019-06-16 | Version 1.0 |
This hack does two important things: 1. It makes the game playable by one controller, because ROB translates much worse than a lightgun on even Nintendo's modern day consoles. If it was released as a NES Online game, this would most likely be the best way to make it playable. 2. By not relying on the slower robot and the command mode, the later stages are less of a pain. Before one screw up with ROB could cost the entire stage. Now, not so much. Sure you could also use the second player controller, but that tends to be awkward. This is perfect. Now, if only there was a way to get Stack-Up running...
| No Gyromite Controller Needed | JonVeliky | 2015-01-03 | Version 1.0 |
This is pretty awesome. I'm gonna make a VC Wad of this. Find me on YouTube. I'll credit you. But yeah, this helps a lot, since most of the games rely on NES accessories, while most games these days rely on a touch screen on a gamepad, stylus, or IR device required only for HDTVs. I'm hoping this remake gets mentioned in AVGN or James & Mike Mondays(which they're probably reading this comment as we speak). Still...great job! :)
